HOW IT ALL STARTED

For the past 10 years, Creative Stage has been bringing adult professional performing artists together with New York City elementary school kids to create inspiring, often hilarious, sometimes deeply moving, and always delightfully imaginative works of theater, music and dance. It was exciting to watch the company grow and, in 2020, we launched a brand new company called Creative Stage Collective to encompass all of our exciting performances moving forward.

Creative Stage Collective is a company where artists from diverse backgrounds and disciplines create together. We are from ages six to sixty-plus. We are concert pianists and second-graders; actors from feature films and Netflix series; writers, dancers, and Metropolitan Opera stars. We come from Harlem and Hong Kong, Puerto Rico, the Bronx, Maine, and Pennsylvania. And we all show up to develop performances that celebrate the imaginative ideas of children.

Creative Stage Collective believes in the power of creative collaboration to bring people and communities together. That is why our company is committed to supporting diversity in the performing arts at all levels of our company—from the board of directors to the artists we hire and the audiences we serve.

Your generous support will allow us to provide performances that are free to the public, such Summer Shebang!, or very affordable, such as Creative Stage Spectacular, coming up on February 11th at Peter Norton Symphony Space where, for less than the cost of movie tickets, families will be able to experience top-level music and live theater.

CSC relies solely on grants and donations to provide our free performances and workshops.
